Ausangate is the fifth highest mountain in Peru.
With its 6,384 meters high, for centuries it has received many names: “The Roof of the Inca Capital”, “Vinicunca” (Cerro de Colores), etc.
Guardian of the Cusco region, located between the districts of Cusipata and Pitumarca, province of Canchis, Cusco region, in southern Peru.
Ausangate is considered the most important mountain in the Andean cosmovision.
The tour starts early in the morning, we will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco between 04:00 and 04:30 am. To travel by bus for about 1:30 hours to the south, to reach the district of Cusipata (3310 meters above sea level. ) where we can enjoy a semi buffet breakfast, we will continue traveling for 2 hours more via trail (dirt road) to reach the checkpoint and start the hike (kayrahuiry), before this we will make a short stop to pay our income (30 foreign soles and 15 Peruvian soles) the hike will last approximately 50 minutes, we will observe the flora and fauna typical of the Andes, among which highlights the presence of llamas and alpacas, we will pass through
When we arrive at the viewpoint of Vinikunka or Colored Mountain (5080 masl.) our guide will give us an explanation about the orography, ecosystem and color of the mountain, we can also take advantage of the moment to observe the mountain range of Vinikunka (5020 m), take pictures and admire the beautiful scenery.
We will return by the same path to the point where we started the hike (kayrahury) where our transport will be waiting to take us back to Cusipata, where we will enjoy a semi buffet lunch. After lunch we will start our return trip to Cusco city, arriving between 4 and 5 in the afternoon. The last stop will be near the main square of Cusco.
