Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Lima / City Tour Lima

Arrival in Lima, reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

At 2:30 p.m., we will begin our City Tour of Lima, with hotel pickups starting at 2:00 p.m.

We will enjoy a tour to explore Lima in its three stages: Ancestral Lima, Colonial Lima, and Modern Lima. We will start with a panoramic view of the “Pirámide Pucllana,” an ancient ceremonial and archaeological center built in the 4th century AD and considered a Sacred Inca Village.

Then, we will head to Lima’s Historic Center, where we will observe what was once the old Lima Square. Here, we will appreciate over fifty colonial monuments and buildings, including the Paseo de la República, Plaza San Martín, Plaza Mayor, Government Palace, Municipal Palace, Archbishop’s Palace, and the Cathedral Basilica, among others. We will continue visiting the Museum of the Central Reserve Bank, where the Treasures of Peru Collection is exhibited, including ceramics, gold, and textiles from various pre-Columbian cultures. We will also explore the San Francisco Monumental Complex, which houses the largest collection of colonial religious art in America, highlighting the underground crypts known as the “Catacombs.” Finally, we will head to Lima’s Contemporary Zone, where we will see the main buildings and residential areas, such as El Olivar de San Isidro, Miraflores, Larcomar, and the Love Park.

Our tour will conclude around 6:00 p.m., and you will spend the night in Lima.

Day 2: Ballestas Islands - Huacachina

At 4:00 a.m., you will be picked up from the hotel or agreed-upon location to begin our journey to the beautiful city of Paracas. We estimate arriving in Paracas around 8:00 a.m. Once there, we will head to the “El Chaco” pier to embark on a speedboat that will take us to the amazing Ballestas Islands.

Our first stop on the speedboat will be at the enigmatic Candelabra, a colossal trident-shaped geoglyph with over 2500 years of history. Together, we will explore the various theories about its origin, which could be related to ancient pirates or even the creators of the famous Nazca Lines.

We will continue our journey to reach the Ballestas Islands, three small islands that are home to an impressive marine and ecological richness of Peru. Here, we will witness vast colonies of sea lions, Humboldt penguins, and numerous guano birds flying over the area.

Although we won’t be able to disembark on the islands to preserve the ecosystem and not disturb the animals, we will get close enough to observe them in their natural habitat during an approximately one-hour tour around the three islands. Then, we will return to the Paracas pier.

Afterward, we will continue our journey to Ica, where we will visit an artisanal winery that produces the famous Peruvian brandy known as Pisco. Here, a local guide will take us through the winery facilities and explain the ancient process of making Pisco and wine. After the tour, our clients will have the opportunity to taste the different varieties of Pisco and wine produced by this winery, and, if they wish, purchase these products.

Next, we will head to the Huacachina Oasis, located just 5 km from the city center. In this beautiful setting, visitors can enjoy the tranquility of the place and explore the surroundings in search of excellent opportunities for photography or visit local restaurants (free time).

At 4:00 p.m., or at the previously agreed-upon time, the exciting experience on sand buggies through the dunes surrounding the Huacachina lagoon will begin. Additionally, the imposing dunes surrounding the lagoon offer visitors the opportunity to participate in one of the region’s most fascinating sports, known as Sandboarding, which involves sliding on a board over the desert sand. Finally, we will spend the night in Huacachina.

Day 3: Nazca

Day in Nazca: Aqueducts, Overflight of the Lines, and Cahuachi

At 7:00 a.m., we will head towards the province of Nazca, where you will enjoy three exciting activities:

Tour to the Cantalloc Aqueducts (Duration: 2 hours)
Just 3 km east of the city of Nazca, you’ll find the impressive Cantalloc Aqueducts, a marvel of ancient Nazca engineering built around 500 years after Christ. These underground channels are essential for maintaining a constant water supply in a region where rivers are often dry. The Nazca demonstrated mastery in hydraulic engineering, using materials that have endured for over 1500 years. On this tour, you will learn how they controlled water flow and maintained these channels.

Overflight of the Nazca Lines (Duration: 30 minutes)
Next, you’ll experience the thrill of a flight over the famous Nazca Lines, an archaeological mystery that has fascinated humanity for centuries. For approximately 30 minutes, you’ll have the opportunity to admire the enigmatic figures etched into the Nazca desert. These artistic representations of stylized animals and plants stretch across a vast labyrinth of lines, trapezoids, triangles, and spirals that have endured for almost 2000 years.

Tour to the Cahuachi Ceremonial Center
Our next stop will be the Cahuachi Ceremonial Center, located 28 km southwest of the city of Nazca. Cahuachi is a complex of ceremonial plazas, stepped temples, and pyramids that served as places of sacrifice and offerings. Archaeologists believe that it was the inhabitants of Cahuachi who created the Nazca Lines, as it is in close proximity to them. In addition to exploring Cahuachi, you will visit the Maria Reich Museum and workshops where you can appreciate local craftsmanship in ceramics, goldsmithing, and weaving.

After this fascinating day, we will return to the city of Lima. We will spend the night in Lima.
